History of Twin Woods:

The Carvolth family moved to Hatfield in 1935 and settled on a 40-acre farm on East Orvilla Road.

After years of hobby farming, Bill decided with his father to build a golf course on the family's farm. This was an easy decision because it was difficult to get a quality yield of crops on the land.

Bill, an avid golfer, had a hard time getting out to play the game he loved because, in those times, there were few public golf courses. The courses in the area would be backed up, making it difficult and frustrating to get a round in.

So, over three years Bill and his father worked tirelessly on the weekends and whenever they had time to build Twin Woods Golf Course.

In 1962 the golf course opened as a 9-hole daily-fee facility. In the early 1980s an automated irrigation system was installed for the greens and tees.

Betty Johnston, sister of Bill, owns the golf course.
